To celebrate its new association with the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service, Subway® Restaurants (SUBWAY) in Northern New South Wales will be supporting the life-saving rescue service with a special fundraising day.
On Saturday 30th April, customers visiting all participating* SUBWAY stores in northern New South Wales can take advantage of a "Buy One Get One Free" offer on any Footlong® sub and medium cup drink, and show their support for the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service with a gold coin donation.
Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service General Manager, Mr Kris Beavis, said he was delighted SUBWAY had come on board as a charity partner in 2016.
"We rely heavily on our community partners to help us raise much needed funds to continue to provide a high standard of aero-medical, and search and rescue services for people in the northern NSW community", Mr Beavis said. "Having partners on board like SUBWAY means our life-saving work continues to be a free 24/7 service to the community," Mr Beavis concluded.
SUBWAY Northern NSW Marketing Manager Matt Foster is expecting a positive community response to their inaugural "Buy One Get One Free Day".
"The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service provides a unique service in our local community and given our 120 store strong footprint in northern NSW, we believe a partnership with the Service is a fantastic fit," Foster said. "We expect plenty of excitement from the local community on our "Buy One Get One Free Day" and hope people will dig deep," Mr Foster concluded.
Each year hundreds of people, many through circumstances that they themselves couldn't imagine possible, need the support of the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.
One little girl, Elaina Underhill, aged 2, had this very experience in late 2015. Elaina was flown to the Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane after being involved in a serious motor vehicle accident.
The Service has now flown over 8,200 missions since it started in Ballina back in 1982 and with the help of Elaina it is launching an exclusive club for those flown by the rescue helicopter called the 'Rescue Club'.
Elaina is the inaugural member of the Club, and at such a young age the Service will become part of her story forever.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter is inviting past patients to join Elaina in registering to become part of the Rescue Club via its website www.helirescue.com.au
For a once off registration fee of $10 each member will receive a special Rescue Club badge, regular newsletters and special event invitations. The Service's annual Rescue Day community fundraiser, held on the second Friday in August each year will mark one of the first planned gatherings of the Rescue Club.

As a local charity that is not fully funded, the Service relies on the support of the community to help fundraise over $5M each year to keep it flying.
Fundraising Manager with the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, Zeke Huish commented "With the festive season fast approaching we are once again seeking donation support to help us to save lives across the region".
"Emergencies often happen when its unexpected, but it's the support of the community that helps us to be there when they do".
The Service performs on average over 7 missions a week and has now flown over 8,100 missions since its inception in 1982.
