Who We are
We are the Northern Region Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service, a not-for-profit charity based in Lismore (west of Byron Bay) in northern New South Wales.
We are charged with the responsibility of ensuring the residents and visitors to our region have the best possible aero-medical helirescue service available to them when needed, free of charge.
Since 1982 the Service has flown more than 8,400 life-saving missions. On average we perform over 7 missions a week with our Pilots & Crew on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We act as an integral part of the emergency response system and enjoy close working relationships with local emergency services, particularly the Ambulance Service of NSW and the NSW Department of Health.
